Most appliances make some low level noises when in use. This is especially true if you are using a microwave oven and particularly its microwave function. In this case, the sound is coming from the magnetron that produces microwaves – the sound is normal and is nothing to be worried about. If your oven is making unusual noises, follow the guide below to find out the source of this issue.
The fan element is dirty
Over time grease can build up across the fan element, making it work extra hard to keep up the speed. If this is the issue, ensure that you give it a good clean in order to get it working as intended again. If the problem is not a dirty fan, a replacement may be necessary. We recommend booking a service repair visit with one of our highly trained and qualified award winning NEFF engineers.
The fan motor is damaged
If your fan is working slower than usual and is making a louder noise it is most likely damaged. Another indicator of the issue is if your oven light is on and the heating element is working, however the oven is not as hot as it should be or the food is cooked unequally. If the fan motor is damaged, its air circulation is ineffective. In this case we recommend booking a service repair visit with one of our highly trained and qualified award winning NEFF engineers.
The gas igniter won’t stop ticking
This is a common issue, which is actually coming from your gas igniter and not your oven. It generally occurs after you have cleaned your appliance and is usually nothing to be worried about. If excessive water gets into the igniter it will short out and continue to make a nonstop clicking noise. Once the water has been removed, usually through evaporation, the igniter will return back to normal and stop. However, if your ignition switch is broken it will not stop making the clicking noise and you will need to book a service engineer visit, who will replace the switches if they are twisted or broken.
