While cleaning the oven racks may not be the most enjoyable job, it doesn’t have to be a difficult one. Before jumping into the tips and tricks for cleaning the oven racks quickly and effectively, it’s important to note that the oven self-cleaning programmes are not designed to clean racks. Leaving the racks in the oven during the self-cleaning cycles will permanently damage them.
Before you remove the oven racks, check that the oven is cold. Then, place them in a tub which you can fill up with enough hot water to cover them – this will allow detergent to activate and begin to break down the grease. Do not turn on the hot water yet. Ensure to place a towel under the racks first to protect the surface from scratches and damage. Using our tested and approved Degreaser, adequately spray the racks and then turn on the hot water. Leave the racks to soak ideally for at least 6 hours or overnight, so that the product can break down the grease and stubborn fats which have accumulated. Then, using a soft sponge or an old toothbrush, wipe off any remaining residue. As most oven racks are dishwasher safe, you can also choose to run a cycle to wash off anything that may be left behind.
